Assistant Advocacy Officer (Two Years Renewable Contract) Post Date: 10 Jul 09
Purpose of the Position
As a member of the Advocacy Team, the position will provide research, information management and organizational support to WV China's participation in regional child-protection programme. The position will update the information system within WV China and in the region about the programme, policy development and implementation as well as related activities and news. The position will also develop communication linkages with other WV national offices.
Responsibilities
* Systematically maintain and expand the information resources (including but not limited to research documents, publications and national polices) on internal migration, human trafficking and related issues.
* Prepare news reports on significant activities to share with other World Vision offices in the region.
* Liaise with national/regional Communications colleagues on media relations and media-related issues.
* Assist in planning and implementing regional child-protection programme and assist stakeholders in organizing regular meetings on the planning and reviews of the programme
* Assist in the preparation of bi-annual briefings on WV China's response to human trafficking in the Mekong sub-region.
* Maintain and update information on Advocacy networks/groups and assist in building links with counterparts at the regional and national level.
* Provide administrative support to the Advocacy Team such as logistics support or facilitation in training or other events, project documentation filing, translation and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Development/International Studies, Public Policy or related field.
* Demonstrated experience in conducting research and information management, and in using analysis tools and experience in establishing and maintaining databases is an advantage
* Computer-literate and competent in MS Office including MS Access software programs and an affinity for data analysis, data visualization and/or web information tools.
* Ability to organize training, workshops and meetings, and experience in organizing events for international visitors is an advantage.
* Good communication ability and fluent in written and spoken Chinese (Putonghua) and English.
* Strong time management skills, ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
* Need to reside in Mainland China.
